A very fine quality Japanese Meiji period inlaid iron box, by the Komai company. The iron box profusely decorated all over, with a pheasant in a pine landscape to the lid with fine border, the sides of the box with imperial chrysanthemum within very fine repeating geometric patterns. The interior of the box lined in silver, the underside inlaid with leaves, petals and a nine character seal mark for Komai.
