A$14,800.00

5358 A rare and fine quality early 19th century ormolu, petrified wood and hard stone inlaid casket, probably used as a humidor. Florence, early 19th century. The hinged lifting lid with a large panel of petrified wood bordered by a lapis lazuli and black marble banding. Each side made up of petrified wood panel within ormolu borders of classical design with cast and chiseled acanthus leaf decoration, central fleurs de lis and standing on paw feet. The interior of the lid fitted with a mirror and the main box with lift out tray. Would make a wonderful jewelry box with an added interior.
