A 17th century Walnut Armadio, Lombardia, circa 1680.

A large panelled and joined walnut Armadio or cupboard of overall strong architectural form. With a substantial break-front stacked moulded cornice, supported by shaped repeating brackets above a frieze inlaid with birds and flowers. Below the cornice a pair of doors with geometric moulded panels, each flanked by pilasters with further panelled decoration and surmounted by terms carved with angels’ faces. The sides also divided into fielded panels and the whole piece standing on replaced carved scrolling feet. The whole piece breaking down to very manageable sized pieces for moving.

The is a bold and beautiful example of 17th century Italian Baroque furniture with a rich and warm colour and very strong design and construction.
